My name is Moises G. Madrid. I ran twice a week. I competed in the Junior Taekwondo Olympics for the U.S. in high school. I wrestled. I ran cross country and track. I was an MMA competitor and a champion in multiple fighting sectors — all at the same time.
Then came college. And one lower back injury that stopped everything — immediately.
Not gradually. Not slowly. One moment I was an athlete. The next, I was someone who had to plan around pain. Training stopped. The weight came on. The identity I'd built my entire life — the fighter, the runner, the competitor — disappeared.
